Our Projects
Bitcoin in the Wild is dedicated to utilising Bitcoin to support various wildlife, education, and conservation projects. We focus on showcasing the projects we support while aiming to increase donations and raise awareness. Unique to our approach, we work directly without involving middlemen or organisations.
Local Programs & Projects
At Bitcoin in the Wild, we work together with Izindlovu Fund, a Belgian non-profit VZW. They are engaged in various local programs and projects dedicated to wildlife conservation, community development, and environmental protection. Powered by Bitcoin we support these projects while aiming to increase their donations and raise awareness on the problems they encounter. By doing so, we create a lasting, positive impact for people, wildlife, and the planet.

Wildlife Conservation
Protecting wildlife is essential for maintaining nature’s balance and the health of our planet. We support initiatives that safeguard endangered species, restore habitats, and promote coexistence between humans and animals, ensuring future generations to thrive alongside the wild.
Women Empowerment
Female rangers are breaking barriers and protecting wildlife on the frontlines. As guardians and role models in their communities, they inspire change, empower others, and prove that protecting nature begins with courage and care.

Wildlife Protection
Our fund aims at protecting wildlife in South-Africa. We can not protect elephants and rhinos without the support of rangers. Wildlife rangers are vital to win the war against wildlife crime as Poaching Wildlife Trade is in the top 3 crimes globally along with human trafficking and drugs.
Elephant Conservation
Elephants are magnificent creatures, vital to maintaining the ecological balance of their habitats. However, they face numerous threats, including habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict. The urgency to protect these gentle giants has never been greater. Explore how you can contribute to elephant conservation.
Proof of Work
2026 - Launch of "The Amazonia Bitcoin" fundraiser
October 2025 - Present at the Lugano Plan B Exhibition Center
October 2025 - First Bitcoin Sponsoring in support of Wildlife Education
November 2024 - Onboarding Shops at Maseke Village
June 2024 - Launch of The Black Mambas fundraiser
Together with Luthando from Bitcoin Ekasi, we visited the Black Mambas to learn about their work and share our experience with Bitcoin. Since the Mambas currently rely on traditional financial partners, they are not yet allowed to accept Bitcoin directly.
That’s why we accept Bitcoin donations on their behalf. All contributions to this fundraiser are kept in a self-custody wallet until the funds are needed for their projects.
Children in their communities often lack basic economic education, and through this initiative, we hope to make a meaningful difference for both the rangers and the next generation — empowering them with knowledge, opportunity, and financial resilience.
May 2024 - Support of "The Bitcoin Elephant fund" in collaboration with Herd South Africa
April 2024 - Herd accepts Bitcoin payments through BTCPay
February 2024 - Setting up The Bitcoin for Wildlife Conservation Project.
January 2024 - Visit to Bitcoin Ekasi & Bitcoin Witsand
January 2024 - Adopting Bitcoin Conference Cape Town
As the Bitcoin technology is new and not always well understood, education and explanation is needed. Therefore we worked together with Bitcoin Ekasi to get the wildlife organisations HERD Elephants, Transfrontier Africa, The Black Mambas and The BushBabies to the Adopting Bitcoin Conference in Cape-Town, South-Africa. We set up a GeyserFund Fundraiser and raised 1,850,295 SATS to cover the travel expenses for 3 team members of the Black Mambas rangers unit to attend the Bitcoin conference in Cape Town. Herd Elephants covered their own travel expenses. The entrance tickets were sponsored by Adopting Bitcoin Cape Town.
Their participation has enabled them to gain insights into adopting the Bitcoin technology for enhanced financial and transactional security within their local communities.
